At The Future Perfect this weekend, there was the most amazing use for a squirrel I can possibly imagine (being that prior to this, their only function in my life was to eat the tomatoes from my garden): a lamp. It really was beautiful and fascinating. Her other work is gorgeously haunting as well. Check her out.

One of the coolest shops I've been to in New York. It's up in a dirty little cove in Soho close to one of my favorite bookstores... totally unpretentious and stocked with the kind of stuff you send home to your best friends with a type-written letter. I'm just gonna post a link to the about page instead of trying to re-phrase their intents... be sure to also check out the store and read the commentary about each item... seriously... it's like going on a free-mini-adventure!

Yesterday my loving little cat knocked my computer off my desk. Let's just assume there's never good timing on these little events and this was no exception. In honor of ugly situations, a post to erasing...

Too much salt: Add a little vinegar and sugar, then taste. A raw potato helps absorb salt in soups or stews.
Too much sugar: Add a few drops of lemon juice or vinegar.

So, since I'm currently looking for a job and that happens to involve lots of the waiting game, I've decided to fill my creative void with cooking again.
Breakfast: Sourdough bread, 2 fried eggs, prosciutto, manchego, spinach and capers.
Yum and yum.
Or as my roommate said, "bloody delicious!"

"Abbott Miller and his colleague Brian Raby traveled to Santa Cruz, Bolivia, to study how the local furniture industry used Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified wood harvested from Bolivia's forests to bring their designs to life.

Miller and Raby's chair design, made from jatoba wood, yields three chairs per sheet of plywood with minimal waste. To save space, the chair's components can also be shipped flat and dry-assembled with a rubber mallet."

This is just one project in a series of similar projects from Design for a Living World, an exhibition at the Cooper-Hewitt. If you are in New York, go see it for me. If not, you seriously should check the book out. It is gorgeous and inspiring.

If I were sick and in bed, I would hope to be brought a bowl of celery root soup and a goat cheese sandwich on this little table. It reminds me of those older prettier hospital carts but with sleek thin casters and there aren't any freakish doctor's tools on it. AND it conveniently folds up after!

After a slight mid-quarter derailment, I'm back. And what better to come back with than my favorite design firm ever: Mucca. Everything they produce is gorgeous and almost every time I swoon at the sight of some well-played branding, they end up being behind it. To start, here is one of my favorite restaurants in New York, Schiller's, located in the Lower East Side. Be sure to check out the way they list their wine selection... so clever!
